At the Stevenage Wellbeing Clinic  I understand that everybody who experiences  anxiety  will do  so in different ways and in different circumstances and to that end different treatments may be used for each individual client which include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, (CBT) , Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Hypnotherapy. 


In order to get a full understanding of how anxiety affects you, I offer a FREE one hour initial consultation.


This time is used effectively so I can get a full understanding how anxiety affects your daily life and so I can explain in detail how I will help you and this time also gives the opportunity for you to ask any questions which you may have.


This initial consultation is also provided so that you can feel relaxed about the therapeutic process we will enter. before we start working together. 

It will may seem that there's nothing you can do about your stress levels or you just think that you are a natural worier. The bills aren't going to stop coming, there will never be more hours in the day for all your errands, and your career or family responsibilities will always be demanding. You do however,  have a lot more control than you might think. In fact, the simple realisation that you're in control of your life is the foundation of stress management. It's all about taking charge: taking charge of your thoughts, your emotions, your schedule, your environment, and the way you deal with problems. The ultimate goal is a balanced life, with time for work, relationships, relaxation, and fun plus the resilience to hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on.

 

HOW WILL I BE HELPED WITH STRESS AND WORRY?

You will be helped with stress and worry with the powerful therapeutic treatments of either Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming or Hypnotherapy. The Wellbeing Clinic uses an array of treatments and you will have an idea of your own choice of therapy and at the FREE initial consultation all options will be discussed to satisfy your requirements and wishes.


Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
You will be helped with the symptoms of stress and worry with  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, (CBT). CBT is an effective form of treatment to gain a positive outcome. When traditional talking therapies are used as the sole means of treatment you might expect to spend many months in therapy.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is reccomended by the NHS as an effective means of therapy to facilitate behavioural change. Cognitive behavioural therapy for stress management helps you to change how you think, feel and behave. As with the majority of emotional issues it is not an activating event that causes you to become stressed but it's your negative thought patterns towards that event that causes the symptoms. For example, someone may experience stress because they believe they are overworked. They may believe that too much pressure is being placed on them to meet deadlines or maybe they believe that they are being taken advantage of.  Using CBT for stress management this would be classed as negative dysfunctional thinking which is causing and fueling the stress symptoms. CBT helps you to look at and challenge your negative thought patterns. Once you can learn to reduce your negative thinking you will be well on your way to dealing with situations in a more calm way.. Hypnotherapy
As mentioned above, the way you feel, is generally a result of your negative thoughts or beliefs about a current situation or an impending situation. Sometimes, however, the reasons why you get stressed may not be known to you at a conscious level. The stress and worry response may be as a result to negative stimuli which you are not aware of. Stress and worry may surface because of a misinterpreted protection for yourself...emotional protection. Hypnotherapy is a highly effective way to make positive, lasting changes to your lifestyle by helping you to release the emotional behind whatever you may be experiencing , as in this case, Stress. Once you understand what the emotional attachment is, you will be well on your way to recovery. Using hypnotherapy in this way helps to shave off many weeks of traditional talking therapy because it works at the root of the problem...your subconscious mind. Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
NLP is based upon helping clients to overcome their own self-perceived, or subjective, problems rather than problems that others may feel they have. NLP also allows the client to choose additional goals as they learn more about their problems, and to modify those goals further as a result of the extended interaction.

The NLP approach to help with stress and worry does not focus on the past, but instead, focuses on the present and future. You will be helped to use respectful curiousity and be invited to envision your preferred future and then helped to start attending to any moves towards it, whether these are small steps or large changes.
 
NLP shows you how to understand and model your own successes, so that you can reproduce them. It is a way of discovering and unfolding your personal genius, a way of bringing out the best in yourself and others.You will be helped to focus on the way you want it to be rather than focusing on your fear of the way you think it will be.
